A librarian I admire, but don't agree with

The Librarian was, of course, very much in favour of reading in general, but readers in particular got on his nerves. There was something, well, sacrilegious about the way they kept taking books off the shelves and wearing out the words by reading them. He liked people who loved and respected books, and the best way to do that, in the Librarian's opinion, was to leave them on the shelves where Nature intended them to be.

I use libraries constantly, but there's a little bit of that Librarian in me, too. People who write in library books, rip out pages, dog-ear pages, and generally disrespect books really, really annoy me.

I find all of these really annoying too, but my pet hate is people who spray scents in library books, presumably to hide the smell of smoke they have saturated the book with. I have twice recently had to return books to the library unread because of a strong stink of perfume/cologne.
